This morning I was surprised by the news of the death of Rosario dynamite. It was one of the first women to enlist in the militia who fought for the defense of Madrid during the Civil War. Jailed during the Franco regime and sentenced to death but the sentence was commuted to thirty years in prison, represents the struggle of women militia to fight shoulder to shoulder with their fellow men before women were, inexplicably, relegated to tasks rear by the government of Largo Caballero. Rosario Sánchez Mora, match in Madrid's Plaza de Cibeles and turned into a symbol of the antifascist resistance after losing a hand to cause an explosion in the trenches of the Sierra de Madrid, inspired one of the best-known poems of battle Miguel Hernández. Recovery here the poet's verses as a tribute to the struggle and dignity of women and men who dreamed of a world free.
